Happy National Sewing Month!

September is National Sewing Month!! In celebration, I have set a couple goals for this month…

  1. Sew something everyday! Whether it is sewing on a lost button, or making an entire project, I will be sewing something everyday!
  2. Complete Baby Quilts! Two close friends had babies a few years ago, and two cousins had babies a couple years ago…and I have baby quilts for them still waiting to be quilted! EEK! I’m gonna get these quilts finished!
  3. Halloween Costumes! I will have 13 different costumes for the 13 Nights of Halloween! I need to organize the ideas & supplies…and get the projects underway!

Happy Sewing!

I’ll have the sleeplessness with a side of panic, please

I work up at 6:30 am in panic. I was foolish last night and my cat, Anna, went outside with me, then got away from me and disappeared. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I went to bed around 1 am, did not sleep well (dreamed of failing school) and then woke in panic. I was out at 6:30 am, in my jammies, calling for my kitty. It’s 1:12 pm and still no kitty. Sigh…

So today, I cannot concentrate. I have homework, derby work, laundry, cleaning, etc. I have created a Missing Cat poster and will be hitting the streets…and cross my fingers my kitty returns home soon!

Sofa! Sofa! Sofa!

Aoife and I were given a “make a pillow” class for Greenbaum’s Quilted Forest by its owner, Sylia, so we spent 10:30-1 doing just that! Definitely an accomplishment as it was a test in patience for both Aoife and I, but still, we had fun.

After the pillow class, we headed to Bush Park for the 1st Annual Capitol City Couch Races. Culture Shock’s project “L.I.P.S.S.” (Live Interactive Performance Series of Salem) created their version of the “Death Mobile” from Animal House as a promo for our upcoming live and interactive Animal House. It was great to see the creativity put into the various couches, and to watch them barrel through the park. Although LIPSS did not win any trophies for speed, they appropriately won the “Food Fight”, which was some messy fun! I kept my distance.

I already have ideas for participating next year, and I’ve been told the date is already set…August 4, 2012, you will know where to find me!

34, day 2.

It’s not late, but I am worn out!

Got home at 3 am and after barely 4 hours sleep, had to go to a meeting for work. It took a a great deal of effort not to yawn for the hour. Guess I’m not 33 anymore ;) (but the meeting went well…and you will be hearing more of its outcome in a future message!)

This is not really the way I wished to start my 34th year…of course, driving an hour at 2 am is not my ideal way to spend 2 am, or an hour of time! BUT…the Nekromantix concert was awesome…definitely worth the drive at 2 am ;)

Boy do I look forward to sleeping tonight…

Hello 34!

I am 34 years old today.

Awoken – too early – by a couple of cats, meowing, pushing, playing, and clawing at my bedroom door. Lunch at the Original Pancake House – waffle with fresh peaches – YUM! Movie Dance Mob, Ceili & Cake this afternoon…it is First Wednesday in Downtown Salem, after all! Then tonight…Nekromantix in Portland with a BFF! Sounds like a good way to welcome 34 to me!
